Joining a church is an important commitment, but at LFC, you’re doing more than that–You’re joining a movement. So the principles that guide the Jesus Movement go beyond what we believe. These principles dictate how we live our daily lives.
1. We love God with all our hearts and all our souls and with all our strength. Now, that seems simple, it’s also complex because Jesus said there is no way to the Father except through him (the Son). In our love of God, we also recognize that Jesus is His son who was born of a virgin, lived as both God and man, died on a cross for payment of the sins of all mankind past, present and future, then arose from the dead to secure our victory over the grave. It’s a lot to digest. Bible study is a great place to get a deeper understanding of our great God and His great acts.
2. We love our neighbor. Jesus was clear about who constitutes a neighbor. ‘Who is not our neighbor?’ would be a shorter list of people. We recognize every man as our neighbor because each was fearfully and wonderfully made in the image of God the creator. The saying goes “Good fences make good neighbors.” At LFC, “Good fellowship makes good neighbors.”
3. We love people to change. Jesus tells us that others will know we are His disciples by our love for one another (John 13:35). We don’t care where you’ve been or what you’ve done. We all have sinned, but we make the decision daily to love God and his people (all people), and acting out that love shows people that we are followers of Christ. We believe that, as we encounter others, it is evident that we’ve been made better by having spent time with God and His people. It will do the same for you.
